Jeremy Clarkson has hit back at Who Wants To Be A Millionaire fans after not knowing the answer to a "simple question" which was asked during the most recent episode.
The TV presenter, 63, faced harsh criticism from viewers after Sunday night’s episode of the ITV game-show aired. The cringeworthy moment saw hopeful contestant Ivo Yordanov turn to Jeremy for help after he was asked a question about a UK politician. The contestant could have earned £8,000 if he answered correctly - but unfortunately, Jeremy was no help to him.
The seemingly impossible question at hand was: "What position was Mark Drakeford reappointed to in 2021?" While viewers at home were screaming the correct answer at their TV screens, it was clear that Jeremy had no clue as to what the answer was.
Jeremy was forced to hit back at ITV viewers (Stellify Media)The options given to the contestant were Attorney General, First Minister of Wales, Head of the Civil Service or First Minister of Northern Ireland - but presenter and quizmaster Jeremy admitted that he had "never heard" of Drakeford.
Given that Jeremy was of no help to him, Ivo decided to use his Phone A Friend lifeline. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, his close friend was also clueless about the questions which forced Ivo to use another lifeline as he asked to use the 50/50 lifeline.

Despite asking Jeremy and his friend to no avail, the 50/50 lifeline thankfully paid off for the contestant and he eventually bagged the £8,000 after losing two of his vital lifelines. However, viewers at home were left baffled by Jeremy's shocking confession about Drakeford.
"It's genuinely unbelievable and mortifying that Jeremy Clarkson doesn’t know who Mark Drakeford is??!! He's meant to be a journalist," one fumed. "Jeremy Clarkson not knowing who Mark Drakeford is just proves he needs to spend less time moaning about Meghan Markle and more time reading actual news," another quipped.
"Really not sure what the hell is going on here. The contestant, Jeremy Clarkson and the phone a friend had all never heard of Mark Drakeford. WHAT," another tweeted. While someone else echoed: "Flipping heck, Jeremy Clarkson has never heard of Mark Drakeford? He's obviously been living under a big massive rock."
After being roasted by unimpressed Who Wants To Be A Millionaire fans, Jeremy took to X on Monday morning to explain his huge blunder. Jeremy assured his fans and viewers of the ITV show that there was a very simple explanation for the apparent gap in his knowledge.
"To be clear. This Millionaire was recorded more than a year ago. I know who Drakeford is now.!!!" he wrote. Jeremy's newest tweet comes over two weeks after he criticised Drakeford in a scathing post - which left viewers even more baffled given that his most recent X offering was about the politician.
On February 20, the Top Gear and Grand Tour host referred to Drakeford’s farming policies as "completely daft". "The defence mounted by Mr Drakeford over his farming policy in Wales makes no sense. Like him, I’m not a farmer but I try to learn about it by listening to people who are. He should do the same," he typed.
