A woman living with terminal cancer had her dying wish of marrying her partner of 15 years in a dream wedding fulfilled.

The couple, Danielle Finlay-Edward, 38, and John Waugh tied the knot in Paisley on Friday March 1, and didn't leave a "dry eye in sight." Diagnosed with stage-four bowel cancer in September, Danielle's condition was tragically declared as incurable after it quickly spread to her ovaries.

Thanks to Wedding Wish Makers and local businesses, Danielle's dream wedding was conjured in just a few, short weeks. Every detail was taken care of, giving Danielle the "princess treatment" she wished for."

She said: "It was more amazing than I could ever have expected. I want to personally thank everyone involved but especially Suzanne at Wedding Wish Makers."

Her sister Victoria added: "I'm so happy for Danielle, it was an amazing day. I am so proud of her! Everyone who was a part of it is just phenomenal."

The bride's long veil and stunning tiara were from Victoria's wedding in 2018, and included as Danielle's "something borrowed." Her family really wanted to give her a "day to remember" after losing both parents recently.

Following the incredible wedding, Danielle and John - as well as their loved ones - now have beautiful memories of a day when a community "came together", according to the Daily Record. Manager of Craiglea, Sarah Speirs, said: "It was a very emotional day, there was not a dry eye in sight. Danielle got ready at the home - she and her bridesmaids were treated like princesses.

"Once she was ready, the care home became so emotional; families, residents and staff lined the corridors and reception area and cheered her on - it was such a nice day.

"It was a day fit for a princess, it was just outstanding from start to finish. Every little detail was just phenomenal, she had everything you could have imagined. When they released the doves she couldn't take her eyes off of them flying away, it was really emotional, every guest was crying."

The happy couple had A Thousand Years by Christina Perri as the track for their first dance as husband and wife, before guests joined in and celebrated the night away.
