What Not To Wear's Susannah Constantine rules out reviving iconic show with co-star

What Not To Wear stars Susannah Constantine and Trinny Woodall had viewers hooked in the early 2000s with their hit BBC series.

The series started in 2001 and aired for five series, launching both Susannah and Trinny into the spotlight. After the pair left, the BBC produced two more series presented by Lisa Butcher and Mica Paris. The fashion gurus gave women, and sometimes men, makeovers after they were nominated by worried friends who thought they were unfashionable.

Fans were hooked by their fashion advice, straightforward commentary and stylish makeovers. It was so popular it was even nominated for a BAFTA award. Despite its wide reach, TV star Susannah, 61, admitted she will 'never' work with co-star Trinny, 60, again.

"What Not To Wear, no, I would not revive it, I think What Not To Wear was an incredible show," she explained. "The way we did it doesn’t have its place today unfortunately, it would be great but it’s time for the next round of women or men to do it, Trinny and I had our time."

Speaking to The Sun, Susannah added that she's happy living her life in the countryside with her family and her former co-star has been busy with her 'phenomenal' make-up brand. Susannah and Trinny have been extremely close after years of working together in the 90s.

However, in 2007 they were ripped apart by a catastrophic response to their ITV show Undress the Nation. The programme came under fire because of the amount of nudity it featured before 9pm. And the backlash was so fierce that it drove Trinny and Susannah to 'divorce', leaving both distraught.

"We'd been Trinny and Susannah for so many years. I'd walk through an airport and get recognised, but people wouldn't say, 'Oh look there's Susanna' They'd go, 'Oh look there's Trinny and Susannah,'" Susannah once told ITV's Loose Women. "Suddenly I didn't have my other half and so I had to re-identify myself as a single person, as just Susannah. And I found that very difficult. It was almost like I went into mourning.

"I lost all my confidence, I put on weight, my self-worth was on the floor." The two are 'still best friends' to this day but won't be working together again. "That show was the death of our career because it was crass and not done with the empathy that had made us successful," she continued.

"We won't work together again, but we speak all the time. We're opposites in every way but we have an incredible bond."
