A cat named Madame Nox is desperately searching for a forever home - after spending twice as long in a rescue centre than her fellow felines.

The 12-year-old domestic short-hair cat, described as "gentle and loveable", is also a 'distinguished and sweet-natured lady' who needs a loving owner to enjoy her golden years with. Madame Nox has so far spent two months in the care of leading animal welfare charity, Battersea.

Despite her loveable nature, she has now surpassed the average wait time for a home, having been a resident at Battersea’s London centre for 60 days - more than double the average stay for one of the charity’s cats (28 days). Madame Nox is now hoping to find that special someone who can give her a lifetime of love.

At 12 years old, Miss Nox is a senior cat, but is still young at heart and sociable - as she enjoys spending her time with people and snuggling into their laps for some well-earned cheek rubs. She even enjoys some playtime when the mood suits her, loving nothing more than pouncing, chasing and batting her beloved string toys.

‌In her new home, Madame Nox will need outside access to go off on plenty of adventures and is looking for loving and understanding owners who will allow her to have fuss and attention on her own terms.‌ Bridie Williams, Rehoming & Welfare Manager at Battersea’s London centre, said: “Here at Battersea we go all in for all of the rescue cats we care for like Madame Nox that need a second chance in life, wherever they are and however they need our help. She is such a sweet, affectionate girl, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that she finds the perfect family who she can lie on and rely on.”

‌Potential new owners who feel they can give Madame Nox the love that she deserves, should visit the Battersea website to find out more here. Battersea's profile on Madame Nox says she "enjoys spending time with her human friends and can usually be found waiting at the front of her pen for someone to visit her. Once a visitor calls, she makes herself at home on their laps. She enjoys strokes and fuss, on her terms, and sometimes prefers to snooze beside her favourite people.

"In the boudoir, Madame Nox likes to sleep on beds and so she is hoping her new owner will allow this. She also loved to settle down on the sofa with her previous owner and is looking forward to cosy nights."
