Legendary jockey Sir AP McCoy believes there is one horse who can’t be beaten at the Cheltenham Festival.

The 20-time champion rode 31 winners at the meeting, including in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Champion Hurdle.

Since retirement he has combined a role working for JP McManus with regular stints as an ITV Racing pundit and ambassador for bookmaker William Hill.

In the latter role he has shared his thoughts for the forthcoming biggest race meeting of the year as a guest on Hill’s Inside Track podcast, hosted by Leonna Mayor, in which he is joined by another great of the saddle Barry Geraghty and two-time Grand National-winning trainer Lucinda Russell.

He was particularly keen on a horse trained by record-breaking trainer Willie Mullins.

McCoy said: “Lossiemouth is a good thing in the Mares’ Hurdle. A lot of people are saying that she should now run in the Champion Hurdle but if there’s a race put on for mares then why wouldn’t Willie Mullins go and win it?

“At that age they are better off having another year under their belts and she’s got a few other Mullins horses to beat, but she is probably the biggest steering job at the Festival this year.

“ In terms of simply steering one around, she looks to be the easiest to steer round at the entire Cheltenham Festival.”
