Sir Kenny Dalglish has claimed that injuries, not their title rivals, could be Liverpool's biggest threat to winning the Premier League.

Liverpool legend Dalglish believes that the Reds' injury crisis may well end up being "vital" in the title race, as Arsenal and Manchester City both boast healthier-looking squads ahead of the all-important run-in. Jurgen Klopp is currently without a number of key players, such as Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Darwin Nunez, Dominik Szoboszlai and Diogo Jota.

And because of that, Dalglish admits that it could be Liverpool's own issues which do more damage than reigning champions City or Arsenal. Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Podcast, the Anfield icon was asked whether in-form Arsenal, who finished as runners-up last season, represented the biggest threat to the Reds' title hopes.

"They're not the biggest [threat] because Manchester City are in there as well," Dalglish replied. "The biggest threat to Liverpool could be injuries.

"For me, Arsenal have got to go to Manchester and play Man City which is a big game. I don't know why people think Arsenal haven't got a vested interest and a threat, of course they're a threat. They'e a threat because they deserve to be a threat.

"There is a lot of water still to pass under the bridge and if Arsenal are starting to get their players back, that have been injured, and we [Liverpool] are starting to lose ours then it could be vital. Man City obviously will be right in the thick of it.

"It's fantastic that we've got three teams as good and as great quality as those three challenging a position and the title. You don't get that in too many countries do you?"

Prior to the Reds' 3-0 victory over Southampton on Wednesday to set up an FA Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester United, Klopp admitted that Liverpool "need miracles" to ease their injury crisis quickly.

The Reds travel to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday before resuming their Europa League campaign away to Sparta Prague next Thursday. With the Carabao Cup already in the bag, Klopp's last few months at the club could see them win as many as four trophies.

Whatever happens, supporters are in for an enthralling title race which Dalglish is relishing. "Let me see how they get on but it's a great competition and there are three teams that are an absolute credit to the Premier League," the former Scotland international continued.

"Whoever wins it deserves to win it because they will have got the most points. The more points, the more successful you'll be."
