Run-DMC star Jam Master Jay was gunned down in 2002 and his decades-long murder case has only just come to a conclusion.
Defendants Karl Jordan Jr and Ronald Washington, Jay's godson and childhood friend, have been found guilty of all charges. A federal jury reached a verdict on Tuesday, finally bringing a close to the trial that angered the music industry and fans alike.
Karl and Ronlald had previously pleaded not guilty to all charges of murder while engaged in fire-arm related murder and narcotics trafficking. Jordan also pleaded not guilty to a number of counts of narcotics distribution. Jam Master Jay, whose real name was Jason Mizell, was fatally gunned down at a recording studio in Jamaica, New York.

In a statement, they said: "We extend our deepest gratitude to the prosecutors, law enforcement officials, and all involved in bringing these individuals to justice. Their unwavering dedication has ensured a measure of accountability for the tragic loss of Jam Master Jay."

"As we pause to reflect, we are reminded of the profound impact and influence Jay had on countless lives. His legacy endures through his music, his spirit, and the cherished memories we hold dear," the statement continued, per PEOPLE magazine.
Master Jay's family admit they "remain committed to honoring his memory and celebrating the enduring legacy he leaves behind" and offered a "heartfelt thanks" to those who have supported them. The statement adds, "Your love, kindness, and steadfast support have been a source of strength during our darkest moments.
"We ask that you continue to honor Jay's memory through his music and the positive impact he made on the world. While the pain of our loss will always remain, we find solace in the knowledge that justice has been served. Our family believes in God's plan & that faith is what helped provide closure for us long ago. We thank all that continue to support Jay's legacy by honoring his life's achievements."

It’s about money. It’s about jealousy." They continued: "And it’s about the actions of two men, Karl Jordan, Jr., and Ronald Washington, that the evidence proves are killers," CNN reported.
Jam Master Jay was a Hip-Hop music legend and the DJ behind the hugely popular group Run-DMC, which also featured Joseph "Run" Simmons and Darryl "D.M.C" McDaniels. Alongside the likes of the Beastie Boys and DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince they helped usher in the golden age of Hip-Hop with tracks such as Walk This Way and It's Tricky.
