A fundraiser has been set up to help the children who were let down by a disastrous Willy Wonka event in Glasgow over the weekend.
The event, which was advertised as a "paradise of sweet treats" with an "enchanted garden containing giant sweets and mysterious sculptures", ended up being a huge disappointment for those who visited. Kids were given just a few jelly babies at the event, which cost £35 per ticket. The disappointment led to an uproar that forced organisers to pull the plug halfway through the first day.
The police were even called to the event because there were so many people gathering outside the venue. Now, a GoFundMe page has been set up to "help put on a fun, amazing event for the children of Glasgow who were let down by the Willy Wonka chocolate experience". The fundraiser explains that it hopes to put on a free day for all the "disappointed" children.
The description says: "Looking for donations to help put on a fun, amazing event for the children of Glasgow who were let down by the Willy Wonka chocolate experience. If you donated as little as the cost of a coffee we can put on a day these kids who were sorely disappointed will never forget.
"As parents/carers who were taken there kids could come together and make a great FREE day for the kids who were all so disappointed on this day. I'm sure across the board we have lots of skills and input we could bring and come together and make a positive out a negative.

Maybe the box hub or a similar space would allow us to use a warehouse and set up an amazing event for these kids. I can set up one hell of a kids party and know for sure I can top Billy Wonka's catastrophic day. Let's give these children a day to remember!"
The fundraiser has so far managed to raise £150 out of its goal of £5,000, reports Glasgow Live. Meanwhile, Paul Connell - an actor who was hired to play Willy Wonka at the event - shared what it was like on TikTok, saying "people wanted Timothee Chalamet and got Timothy Charlatan".
He said: "I'm gonna be poking a little bit of fun at the event but I wanted to say before I start that I feel for anyone who bought tickets to this and then people who were expecting a magical chocolate experience and got me in a top hat in a dirty warehouse in Glasgow."
"People who wanted Timothee Chalamet and got Timothy Charlatan." He added that the script was "15 pages - monologue pretty much - of AI-generated gibberish".
