Arsenal are well and truly in the title race, with just two points now separating the third placed Gunners from top of the table Liverpool.

And Mikel Arteta's side are in excellent form, having won their last six Premier League games and scored 25 goals in the process. They will be back in action on Monday when they face bottom of the league Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, before hosting Brentford the following week.

Arsenal will then welcome Porto to the Emirates on March 12, with the Gunners needing to overturn a 1-0 deficit in order to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Here are the latest stories concerning the club.

Wright defends Saka

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has been left "very disappointed" with Rio Ferdinand over his comments about Bukayo Saka not being world class.

Speaking on hisWrighty's House podcast, Wrightsaid: "If I'm him [Saka], I'm probably a little bit p***ed off about that. And I'd probably be a bit p***ed off with Rio about it for bringing it up like it is because it's the narrative of everything, especially when you listen to TNT.

"And so, it's something now, I'd be very interested to see his relationship going on with Rio, who for me, let's face it, one of the most decorated players, to come with that kind of conversation does not help. It doesn't help at all. In that particular situation, I was very disappointed with that because it's not needed."

Arteta quit claim

Ferdinand has also claimed Arteta would "100 per cent" quit Arsenal to join Manchester United if Erik ten Hag leaves Old Trafford.

There have been claims new United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe may decide a managerial change is needed and Ferdinand believes Arteta would jump at the chance to replace Ten Hag. Speaking on his Vibe with FIVE podcast, he claimed: "Arteta would leave Arsenal to come to Man United, 100 per cent.

"No one is saying it's happening, but if Man United, in their wildest dreams, said 'Do you know what, Erik ten Hag, thank you', or Erik ten Hag has been poached by Bayern Munich and he goes there, and Man United say 'Right, top of our list, Mikel Arteta', Arteta is going in [to Arsenal] and saying 'Listen lads, it's been emotional, but I've got to move and got to go.'"

Neves makes transfer admission

Ruben Neves has revealed he came "very close" to joining Arsenal last summer, but he got "frustrated" and ended up signing for Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal instead.

"I was close to joining three different clubs, which never happened," he said. "I got frustrated and decided to join Al Hilal. I didn’t want to mention any names, but one of the clubs was Barcelona. I was very close to joining them, same with Arsenal.

"Then there was another club outside of England. These were events that accumulated and then, with this golden opportunity, I had no doubts in accepting it. I was already hardened by transfers that do not happen."
