David Moyes will wait until the end of the season before deciding his West Ham future.

The Scot, who has been under increasing pressure from supporters following an eight-game winless streak, says a contract is on the table waiting to be signed but he wants to make certain that he remains the right man for the job before committing.

"The club have offered me a new contract but we are in a position where we would rather just wait,” Moyes said. "I want it to be right for the club and it to be right for me and my family.

"We are in a position where we are happy at this moment in time to just move along. We have important games, important European games coming up so we are happy to let it go.

"I've been asked this question since day one and said that I'm pretty cool, I'm not in a hurry. What I have said is that I will always honour my contracts, that is one thing I will do. My contract is to the end of the season, the club have offered me a new deal and we will wait and see how that goes.”

Fans have questioned Moyes’ style of football during their recent slump, which has . They will attempt to win for the first time in 2024 when Brentford visit London Stadium on Monday night.

But after bringing the club their first trophy in 43 years via the Conference League last season, Moyes says his success has raised expectations among supporters.

"There will always be times at football clubs where you think you might need a change,” he said. "At the moment West Ham have probably been in one of the best places they have been for a long time.

"I don't want to keep saying it because it sounds like I'm having to defend it but the facts are there. There is a level where West Ham can go and we need to find out where that is. But a manager's job is to raise expectations - and I think that's what we've done.”

Since Roy Hodgson ’s departure from Crystal Palace, Moyes has become the top flight’s oldest gaffer. And asked if he may need a break like Jurgen Klopp, who is leaving Liverpool at the end of the campaign, Moyes said: "Management has got tougher for a lot of managers.

"I'll make that decision at the end of the season when that time comes. You always know when you have got to the stage where you need to change but at the moment let's see.”
