Luke Littler has joked he now has more time to play his Xbox after he was knocked out of the Players Championship 4 in the first round by James Wade.

Littler rose to fame at the PDC World Championships as the teenager beat former world champions Rob Cross and Raymond van Barneveld on his way to the final, where he was beaten 7-4 by Luke Humphries.

Since then, Littler has gone on to earn a wildcard spot in the Premier League, win the Bahrain Masters and make his Players Championship debut. He won the Players Championship 1, but crashed out in the second round and quarter-finals of the next two events.

And the 17-year-old has now been knocked out of the Players Championship 4 in Leicester after losing 6-5 to Wade. In response to his defeat, Littler simply wrote on Facebook : "Xbox all day it is..."

It comes after darts legend Phil 'The Power' Taylor revealed that Littler's success has "got the backs up of the other pros". In an interview with talkSPORT earlier this month, Taylor said: "I think he is absolutely fantastic.

"I have got to be honest with you, and I know he's got the backs up of the other pros which I love to see. I wasn't really watching darts, I wasn't really interested in it and he's made me interested in watching it again.

"I even watched some of the streaming yesterday [Players Championship 2] so that's not me! But I've really enjoyed watching him. He's a great little player, he's got a great little personality and it hasn't affected him yet.

"I don't think it ever will. I think he will keep his feet on the ground no matter how many tournaments he achieves, I think he will be a nice, young lad."

Taylor also said he does not want to face Littler in a competitive match, but joked he would be willing to take him on in a one-legged exhibition. "No [I don't want to play him]," the 16-time world champion added.

"Not yet, I don't want to play him to be quite honest with you. I'd play him in an exhibition, yeah. One leg of 301, I go first!"
