The Pokemon Company has announced that a brand new Pokemon Presents showcase is on the way for Pokemon Day 2024, which lands on February 27 every year, marking the launch date that the original Pokemon game released back in 1996.

Just like the past five years (barring 2020 for obvious reasons), Pokemon Day 2024 is going to have a Pokemon Presents showcase of its own on Tuesday, February 27. For those unaware, Pokemon Presents are special showcases in the vein of a Nintendo Direct except with a complete focus on all aspects of Pokemon – mainline games, TV shows, the trading card game, mobile apps, and spinoffs like Pokemon Unite.

Last years event showed off the DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as well an update on Pokemon Sleep, and the announcement of Pokemon Concierge – the stop motion show which was just confirmed to be getting a second season yesterday on the Pokemon Twitter.

As for what's going to happen in the upcoming Pokemon Presents, we don't really know. The tweet from Pokemon announcing the showcase promises some 'exciting Pokemon news', but then again the company putting on the presentation isn't exactly going to say 'here's some middle of the road and a boring news' if there's nothing big planned, so we can't really gather much from that either. But that won't stop us from guessing!

Pokemon Presents February 2024 predictions

So to get the obvious out of the way, we're likely to see Pokemon Presents February 2024 unveil a new mainline Pokemon game. There's been at least one new mainline Pokemon game, DLC expansion, or remake every single year since 2016 – and we don't expect The Pokemon Company to stop now.

In terms of a new mainline entries, there's a few things that could potentially be announced in the Pokemon Presents February 2024 stream. There's the possibility of a fully-fledged 'new' game focusing on pokemon Generation 10, which is the least likely considering Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (Generation 9) just received it's last DLC back in December 2023.

On the remake front, Pokemon Black and White next in line, but again Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (remakes of Diamond and Pearl) weren't that long ago either, and Pokemon remakes tend to only come around once per console generation. Given that Brilliant and Shining Pearl launched on Nintendo Switch, the next pokemon remake will likely land on the Nintendo Switch 2.

There could be a new Legends game – a series that's set in ancient times pre-dating the 'main' instalments, and introduced real-time pokemon catching. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the first game in this new Legends line of titles, and released in January 2022. Subsequently there's no established release pattern to these yet, but it was the most well-received Pokemon game in years – both critically and from the fanbase – so it would make sense for The Pokemon Company to take advantage of that and get a new one out soon.

The final – and most likely – contender is a brand new entry in the Pokemon Let's Go series. It's been over five years since Pokemon Let's Go, Eevee! and Let's Go, Pikachu! which are the Pokemon Generation 1 games from the '90s reimagined in the vein of Pokemon Go – specifically Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Fans have been clamouring for a follow-up even since, which would tackle Pokemon Generation 2, so now may be the time to finally give them that.
