Micah Richards admits he lied to CBS bosses after staying out until 8am during one of the best nights of his life in Las Vegas.
The former Manchester City star was part of the team covering the recent Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. The former ran out victorious with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce stealing the headlines.
Their victory triggered wild scenes of celebration but it appears Richards was keen to sample the atmosphere before the game. Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, he admitted to losing track of time after meeting up with a friend in Sin City.
"I am with (Thierry) Henry, (Kate) Abdo, the producers and everyone knows what Big Meeks is like, I like to get in a little bit of trouble every now and again," Richards said. "I just thought 'Do I keep it professional and stay in or do I go for a little wander?'
"So it's about one in the morning, I go for a little wander down the strip. We're staying in the Virgin Hotels. One of my old mates is staying at the Wynn. I go there and have a few drinks.
Pep Guardiola went back on his word after blocking last-ditch Barcelona transfer"It's then four or five in the morning in the morning and I am thinking to myself 'We have got media at 11am. What do I do here?' It's only light stuff, we're talking about the Champions League, promoting that and then the Super Bowl."
After staying up for the majority of the night, Richards chose not to fess up when reporting for work the next day. He added: "And then we went to a place - I'm not naming no places but wowsers. Gary do you want me to spell it out for you, the scenery was like never, ever before. Oh my god.

"So bear in mind we have got to go to media in the morning. And everybody thinks I have gone to sleep. And you know Big Meeks isn't going to sleep at that time.
"So I get there in the morning and everyone was like 'How was your night, this that and the other and good sleep?' And I was like 'Yeah, I went to sleep really early, I couldn't find anything to do, I went downstairs to get a drink' and they all thought I stayed in.
"But they don't know I had one of the best nights of my life. Everyone thought I had jet lag, it had nothing to do with jet lag, it was because I was out until 8am. God bless America that's all I'm going to say."
Richards will be back on punditry duty next week with the Champions League returning once more. Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are back in action on Wednesday as they take on Portuguese giants Porto away from home.
