Love Island fans 'cringe' over Adam's poem for Arabella days after meeting

Love Island: All Stars fans have reacted to Adam Maxted's poem for Arabella Chi, with some describing it as "cringe" whilst other viewers said they felt the gesture was "cute".

The latest episode of the ITV2 spin-off aired on Valentine's Day and showed the remaining dozen islanders in the villa having sentimental moments in their couples. Adam, 31, brought co-star Arabella, 32, to their "spot" on the terrace.

The pair haven't been coupled-up on the show for long, with Adam having only entered the villa in South Africa last week. They however have been growing close since then and Adam reflected in a poem whilst on the terrace.

Adam read: "We're back on the terrace where we had our first kiss. Who would have known that we'd end up like this? From the moment we met we had an instant connection. When I looked into your eyes I could feel the tension."

"You were always the one that I knew I would steal because you're one of a kind and you say how you feel. You've had your ups and downs in your journey so far but you should be proud of yourself as I know your family are," he added.

The islander - who first appeared on Love Island in 2016, three years prior to Arabella's debut in 2019 - concluded the poem by saying: "I'm glad that I've met you and you know that I care, here to support you and be your big bear."

Arabella seemed impressed with the poem and went on to tell Adam: "D'you know which bit got me? The family bit." He responded: "I know that's important to you." Arabella further praised her co-star: "Oh my god, you're so cute."

Fans shared their thoughts on platforms like X, formerly known as Twitter, last night following the scene. One person wrote: "A POEM??!! Mate you've known her 3 days lmaoooo." Another said: "Adam, a poem?? Has it even been a week???"

Someone else teased: "Adam writing Arabella a poem after 2 days is killing me off." A fourth viewer said: "Adam no …..I can't cope with the level of cringe." Another person tweeted: "Adam has been in for about 3 seconds, what was that poem all about."

One person said: "Does anyone else mute the tele when there's a guy with a poem on this show? Don't think I've ever heard one all the way through." Someone about the episode: "Not the poems it's actually so cringe. Please put them away."

"I thought Adam's poem for Arachichi was actually…kind of nice?! I mean OBVIOUSLY it's cringe, but cute that he mentioned liking her outspokeness, and that he'd listened when she talked about her family," one person commented though.

They weren't alone in their thoughts, with someone else tweeting this week: "Okay Adam's poem was kind of cute." Another fan said: "I am not really into poems but Adam's was really cute." Someone else said it was "actually hella cute".

Love Island: All Stars continues tonight on ITV2 and ITVX from 9pm. Catch up on previous episodes of the spin-off series through the streaming platform now ahead of the upcoming final on Monday night.
