Helmut Marko has remained tight-lipped on the ongoing investigation surrounding Christian Horner but is sure that Red Bull’s preparations have not been affected.

The long-serving team principal is currently at the heart of an internal probe after being accused of ‘inappropriate behaviour’. He has strongly denied those allegations.

As Red Bull’s preparations for the 2024 season continue in earnest, senior advisor Marko was asked about the ongoing situation. Asked how much the investigation is affecting the side’s prep for the new campaign, he replied: “I can't tell you that and I can't say anything else on this subject.

Marko added: “As long as the investigation is ongoing or there is no result, you won't hear anything from me. It is an ongoing process. Fortunately, our car is ready and we are well prepared.”

Since the allegations were first made, Red Bull have confirmed that Horner is facing an internal investigation. He held a lengthy meeting with a lawyer last week.

A statement from Red Bull confirmed: “After being made aware of certain recent allegations, the company launched an independent investigation. This process, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external specialist barrister.

“The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practically possible. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time."

Elsewhere, ex-F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone has also offered his view on the current situation. Reports earlier this week claimed that he had urged Horner to leave his role as Red Bull team principal, something he denied on social media.

Writing on his Instagram story, the 93-year-old said: "To clarify reports by newspapers that I had urged or suggested Christian Horner should step down from his position at Red Bull - they are entirely UNTRUE."

Horner appears to have been playing a role in Red Bull’s preparations for the new campaign. He was spotted at Silverstone earlier this week for testing of the new RB20 car. The 50-year-old will also be in attendance for Thursday’s official launch alongside drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. Academy drivers Emely de Heus and Hamda Al Qubaisi also featured.

Red Bull will kick off the defence of their title early next month. The first race of the season takes place in Bahrain on March 2 ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix a week later. The Austrian side have claimed the last two Constructors’ Championships, while Dutch star Verstappen comes into the season aiming to make it four F1 titles in a row.
