No one wants to have to deal with unsightly black mould - but there are some easy tricks to help banish it for good.

Mould can grow on windows when the cold air outside meets warm air inside and causes condensation. If that condensation isn't wiped away and treated it can lead to nasty mould growth, which can cause all sorts of unwanted health issues if not dealt with properly.

Thankfully Matan Korin, an expert at Ecoline Windows, has shared some easy ways to get rid pesky mould and stop it from coming back for good.

The first trick Matan suggested was to use white vinegar. The expert advised to mix equal parts of white vinegar and water into a spray bottle and spray the area.

"Spray the affected area and let it sit for an hour before scrubbing with a brush. White vinegar's acidic properties make it a natural mould killer," Matan told The Sun.

Next, the pro advised making sure there is sufficient airflow around the home. Opening windows and using exhaust fans can help reduce mould growth and Matan advised people to use a dehumidifier when it's humid.

The expert added: "If your windows allow cold drafts to enter, you can apply self-adhesive foam strips to prevent this. These are a cost-effective and straightforward solution, although they'll require periodic replacement."

With draughts, Matan recommended using Low-E window film on the inside of your windows to help reduce heat loss - especially during the colder months. "When addressing window mould, you need to combine cleaning, maintenance, and proper ventilation. In turn, you can safeguard the well-being of your household and your home," the pro added.

Research shows that three-quarters of Brits reduce ventilation in their homes to keep bills down and keep their houses warm, but this is a "paradise" for mould to grow, according to experts at Peter Cox, the UK's leading damp and mould specialists.

Keeping windows shut may seem like the ideal way for struggling Brits to keep their homes warm, but it could be a "false economy" according to the experts.

Nicholas Donnithorne, UK Technical Services Manager, Peter Cox told The Mirror: "The data shows a strong correlation between Brits making an effort to reduce ventilation in their homes in a bid to save energy and a spike in instances of mould.

"We understand it can feel like a catch-22; we all want to find ways to keep our energy bills down over the colder months, but trapping the warm moist air inside can inadvertently cause issues with mould later down the line. Mould not only looks unsightly but can have implications for our health"
