It has been four years since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped back as working royals and started building a new life for their family across the Atlantic.

While Harry has made a handful of trips back to his homeland, including his recent flying visit to meet King Charles following his cancer diagnosis, Meghan has only returned three times - ahead of the couple's trip to Germany, for the late Queen's Jubilee and for her funeral. There have been various reasons for skipping trips with Harry, but the main is to stay with the couple's children Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.

And now, an anonymous source has claimed that even in light of the recent royal health scares, Meghan isn't keen on spending time in the UK. Speaking to OK Magazine, they said: "Meghan doesn't want anything to do with it and is keen to stay away from England, but Harry is of the opinion that he must repair the damage that has been caused."

The source also claimed that the the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have had several "heart-to-hearts" on this issue, with Harry keen to spend time back in the UK given his father's ill health and repair relations with his family.

The palace announced that King Charles was diagnosed with cancer on 5 February and that as he undergoes regular treatment he will be pressing pause on "public-facing duties" in line with the medical advice he has received. Simultaneously, Kate is also off-duty as she recovers at home from a "planned abdominal surgery" she underwent in January, leaving the monarchy with a shortage of working royals who can undertake official engagements.

"There have been plenty of emotional conversations and heart-to-hearts over the best way to handle the situation and move forward. Harry wants to put an end to the feud and regrets the way that things have turned out. There's no plan B for Harry, patching things up with his family is the only option. It’s finally hit home how difficult it will be to repair the damage caused by the various swipes at his family over the years".

Previously, royal author Omid Scobie has noted - in an interview with People Magazine - that Meghan is "moving on" from any turmoil that has gone on between the Sussexes and the Royal Family in recent years, but she still "has some sort of correspondence with Charles, sending over photos of the children, although they’re not directly to him. So there is a willingness there".
