Princes William and Harry could come together to and put their differences aside after King Charles' cancer diagnosis.

Over the years, the Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex have had a strained relationship, with Harry sensationally claiming that William launched an attack on him and knocked him to the ground during a disagreement. William, 41, was also the first member of The Royal Family to shut down Harry and Meghan Markle's claim that individuals in the family made racist comments.

But after the news of King Charles seeking urgent treatment after being diagnosed with cancer, a former aide to their late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales claims they could reconcile as they support His Majesty.

"It's not William's time yet," said Paul Burrell. He went on to add: "He thought he'd have at least another ten years to grow his family and to live a happy family private life with Kate at Adelaide cottage and then probably Royal Lodge in the future. It's not his time and I think it's a great burden for William to think about, with Harry coming back as well."

Speaking on GB News, Paul, 65, added: "Quite rightly, Harry's coming back to show public face perhaps, but then to support the King and his brother. And I think this could be the step we need towards reconciliation between William and Harry. Though their father is ill, the two sons should come together to support the King, certainly in private behind closed doors.

"This doesn't mean of course that Harry is going to start doing public duties in this country. That's not the case. He's coming because his father is sick and that's what we all do. We all rally and this family knows better than anyone how to rally together, how to pull the troops together, and how to carry on regardless."

Harry has no public role in the UK and across the Commonwealth, having stepped back as a senior working royal in 2020. But there is a loophole, the Duke of Sussex is currently a Counsellor of State who may be called to take on royal functions in the event of the Monarch being ill or absent from the UK.

But there are certain roles that the Counsellors of State can not take on, including Commonwealth matters, dissolution of Parliament (unless instructed by the Sovereign) and appointing prime ministers. But the King is reportedly hoping to change the law surrounding the Counsellors of State.

Harry is currently flying from Los Angeles to London in order to be with his family, while his wife, Meghan Markle and their two children will remain in Montecito.
