An 8-year-old girl was killed in front of her mother by a car while attempting to board a school bus in Henry County, and the 25-year-old woman suspected of causing the tragedy has been arrested.
The incident went down February 1 along Jackson Lake Road in Henry County, at the intersection of a private road. Young Adalynn Pierce was hit by a Ford Fusion while attempting to board the halted Henry County School bus, according to the Georgia State Patrol. According to troopers, the bus's red flashing lights were turned on, and the stop sign was displayed on both the front and back.
With potentially fatal wounds, the girl was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta located in Egleston. Unfortunately, investigators said on Saturday that the girl had died as a result.

The girl's mother, Ashley Pierce witnessed her daughter's death (WSAZ)Kaylee Andre, 25, was the driver of the car, according to troopers. She was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, neglecting to stop for a school bus that was being loaded and unloaded, and failing to use reasonable caution when she was hauled into Henry County Jail. Jackson Lake Road residents said Adalynn's death had profound effects on the whole community.

They stated that the driver's windshield was partially obscured because she had neglected to remove all of the ice that had frozen over. This seems to be supported by Andre's criminal accusations, when she is accused of impeding the driver's vision. According to GSP, their report is being prepared by their Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.
Adalynn later died of her injuries (WSAZ)Ashley, Adalynn's mother, delivered an unexpected message to Andre in court: she forgives the woman who killed her 8-year-old daughter. Ashley Pierce was present when it happened. She witnessed her daughter get on the bus before she was hit by the car.
But she maintained it was a mistake, and Adalynn would have forgiven the woman who hit her. She is offering forgiveness to the woman accused of striking Adalynn as she boarded the school bus.

She's the one who called 911 for me, and she just kept screaming how sorry she was and how sorry she was," Ashley said. "Law enforcement has said she has been nothing but cooperative the whole time. It was a mistake. Anyone could have made the same mistake."
Ashley will cherish and miss her daughter's youthful enthusiasm and affection for both her own life and the lives of others above anything else. "That was her character in general," Ashley said. "Her heart feels for the whole world. If she knows that there is a need out there, it makes her soul so happy to pray for them."
