Liverpool are on the hunt for a new manager for the first time since 2015, following the news that Jurgen Klopp will be leaving the Premier League club this summer.

Despite leading the team to the top of the league and into the finals of the League Cup, as well as still being in the running for the Europa League and FA Cup, Klopp, 56, will officially leave on June 30. After deciding he has nothing left to give at Anfield, Klopp's decision gives the club's owners six months to find a new manager.

The decision could shape the future of the club, and will be undertaken by the club's American ownership group, FSG. Here's a look at the four key decision-makers who will be involved in the vital process.

Billy Hogan

Hogan, the club CEO, sat next to Klopp during the press conference announcing his departure. Hogan, who took up his current role in 2020 after eight-and-a-half years as COO, shed some light on the hiring process.

He said: "[Klopp] wanted to give the club the opportunity to go through what will be an orderly process," adding that "We will go through that process, as we have done in the past ... that will be done with ... the people that are here, our ownership, Mike Gordon in particular will be a part of that process."

Mike Gordon

Gordon, the president of Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which has owned the club since October 2010, is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He holds a significant stake in the club and is one of seven directors, including Hogan.

Speaking on behalf of FSG, he said: "(We) continue the due diligence behind the scenes, which will allow our football operations department to adapt to a future without Jurgen." He made the statement on behalf of John Henry and Tom Werner.

John W Henry

John Henry is the principal owner of the club and also owns the Boston Red Sox of MLB. Despite being a St. Louis Cardinals fan growing up, the Boston-based businessman is the face of the ownership.

He publicly apologised after the club briefly joined the European Super League in 2021. He also directly apologised to Klopp and Hogan at the time, stating that Hogan had "absolutely no responsibility" for the Super League debacle.

Tom Werner

Tom Werner, the club chairman, co-founded FSG with Henry in 2001 and has been its chair ever since. The New York native entered sports team ownership in 1990 when he led a group of investors that purchased the San Diego Padres.

He was the team's main managing partner and majority owner for four years before selling the organisation at a profit. Now, Werner is part of MLB's Media Committee, On Field Committee, and Competition Committee.
