The ex-boyfriend of Strictly Come Dancing winner Ellie Leach has spoken at his regret over cheating on her in a nightclub, and that he wants to win her back.
The 22-year-old star of Coronation Street, where she plays Faye Windass on the cobbles, has been linked with her fellow Strictly competitor Bobby Brazier in recent weeks, with the pair being snapped together as their friendship and possible romance begins to blossom.
Ellie was also linked to her Strictly professional dance partner, Vito Coppola, during the BBC competition after a number of intense and intimate performances but the pair have dismissed any thoughts of romance and said they just connected on the dancefloor.
With EastEnders star Bobby enjoying the company of Ellie, her ex-boyfriend Reagan Pettman, 22, has told The Sun on Sunday that he regrets the drunken snog which signalled an end to their romance. He now wants to rekindle what he had with Ellie and he said: "I hurt her and broke her heart. I’m not proud of it.”
Speaking about the moment that he now looks back on with regret, Reagan said: "It sounds cliché but I was really drunk and it all happened at once. I knew what I had done was wrong and instantly regretted it. I want to rebuild the trust again and for her to be back in my life. But if she’s happy with Bobby, then I am happy for her. But I really miss her.”
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourReagan met Ellie on an acting course at The Manchester College and they dated for five years, going on the first date together in July 2017, when they were both aged 16. His confession about cheating came just weeks after Ellie was axed from Corrie as bosses decided they no longer wanted Faye in Weatherfield.
Detailing the moment when he realised he had begun the end of his romance with Ellie, Reagan said that he had been drinking in his hometown of Preston when he met the person he kissed. He said: "I was chatting with the girl on the dancefloor then all of a sudden we kissed. I can’t remember what she looked like. I didn’t know who she was and I instantly just felt horrible. I couldn’t even remember what I thought or felt at that moment."
Reagan came clean four months later, hoping that they would be able to work through his misdemeanour but he said that Ellie felt that the trust had gone and ended their relationship. He said about the split: "I made the mistake of being influenced. I hurt her and I am not proud of it. I broke her heart.”
He is trying to be pragmatic about rumours that Ellie is dating Bobby, who plays Freddie Slater in Albert Square, saying: "I am not jealous or angry. I just hope she is happy.” He then added that he is not ready to move on from Ellie just yet and said about the split: "It is a blessing and a curse because I have lost the person who I thought I was going to spend forever with. But you have got to learn lessons in life... and it might be one of the hardest I have had to learn."
