Jurgen Klopp to repeat trick at Liverpool to beat Chelsea in Carabao Cup final

Jurgen Klopp will turn to brain-training gurus Neuro 11 again to boost Liverpool's trophy chances this season.

The Kop boss will bring in the German-based scientists ahead of their Carabao Cup final against Chelsea next month. Liverpool used the neuroscience company - which uses brain-monitoring headsets to check and improve players’ mindsets ahead of crunch situations - in their quadruple-chasing season of 2021-22.

The Reds beat Chelsea twice on penalties in the League and FA Cup that season and Klopp credited Neuro 11’s work in the build-up. Now he’s working with them again.

The German said: “They work for us. They were here last week because there was the potential of a penalty shoot-out against Fulham. We will definitely do something before the final. They will be in that week.”

Klopp is hoping the League Cup is not the only final they reach this season ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup fourth-round clash with Norwich. The Liverpool manager will be ‘locking horns’ again with old pal and best man David Wagner coming to Merseyside.

The pair worked together at Borussia Dortmund and have faced each other when Wagner was in charge of Huddersfield. Klopp said: “I enjoy a lot and we had already conversations about it. He asked me for massive rotation! I told him that doesn't help, obviously!

“It's cool to have the game. When he worked at Huddersfield, he watched a lot of games here in the stadium, when they didn't play he was here, and now he's back. He didn't see the new stand, I think.

“We didn't see each other for a long time, so the next time probably would have been in the summer, so now it's good to catch up and to lock horns again.”

Klopp has revealed Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominic Szoboszlai and Andy Robertson all could feature against the Canaries on Sunday. But the Liverpool boss insists it is not guaranteed Alexander-Arnold will be fit to be in the squad for the FA Cup fourth-round tie.

Right-back Alexander-Arnold has been out since picking up a knee injury in the third-round win over Arsenal earlier this month. While Szoboszlai has a hamstring problem he suffered in the New Year’s Day win over Newcastle at Anfield.

But they are ‘touch and go’ to be ready for the visit of the Canaries on Sunday. Robertson was back in the squad for the draw with Fulham on Wednesday night but didn’t come off the bench as the Reds progressed to the final.
