Shoppers at a Walmart store were shocked to see a toddler dressed only in a diaper, shivering in the shopping trolley while his mum, fully clothed, pushed the cart. The incident, which took place in freezing conditions, was filmed by Walmart worker Felicia Nicole, who later lost her job for sharing the footage online.

The situation escalated when the boy's teeth started chattering from the cold. Temperatures had dipped to 37F, or 2C, that day, and Nicole claims it was even colder than that. One man confronted the mother, asking "What's wrong with you?" as she continued shopping. The mother responded by telling him to lower his voice and revealed that the police had already been called on her twice.

Nicole then challenged the mother, saying: "When you come in the store fully dressed and your baby's not..." The mother retorted, "how many kids you got?" before pushing her trolley towards the frozen food section of the store, located in Jackson, Mississippi.

A video shows a woman on a mobility scooter dressing a toddler in clothes she bought for him, while his mum is busy with her phone. Nicole, who filmed the incident, later shared an update online, saying: "Yes, we did call the police. I mean, why wouldn't we? Why wouldn't we?"

"When you see a child that's being neglected, don't have on any clothes, just a diaper, no shoes, no socks, no shirt, no nothing. So why wouldn't we call the police?" The Walmart worker revealed she had a son who sadly passed away. "If my child was living, ain't no way in hell my child would be out there with no clothes on, just a diaper," she said.

"I took it upon myself to record it for the child sake. No I wasn't thinking about the consequences at the time, At that time my main focus was on that innocent poor child, and to get him some help. Now I'm jobless because I was only trying to help and save that baby life." [sic]

Dr Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood director, watched the video and commented: "It would be impossible for me not to grab that baby and hold him next to my body until he warmed up and stopped shaking. If this woman treats him like this in public, just imagine what is happening to him in private. I hope her children are removed and placed into a safe, loving home. So many families would be willing to provide that home for him, including ours."

A fundraiser has been started to help Nicole, which has already raised nearly $4,000. The Mirror has reached out to Walmart and the Jackson Police Department for a comment.
