Dog walkers have been warned by police after pieces of meat have been found "stuffed with pills" in Bristol.
Avon & Somerset Constabulary are urging people to keep a close eye on dogs and be careful about what they allow their pets to eat while out on a walk, after one person said that pills were discovered inside some sausage in the Greenbank Cemetery area.
The force said: "Our PCSOs found a piece of meat that had been stuffed with pills. Whilst we are unsure exactly what it was intended for, please be careful about what you let your dogs eat whilst out on a walk."
It comes as many people have shared the news of meat being found in that area with pills stuffed inside. One person wrote on Facebook: " My dog-owning ex-neighbours from Hinton Road were walking their lovely dog yesterday near the gates of Greenbank Cemetery, and their dog almost ate this Tramadol-laced piece of sausage (...) They've reported it, but if you're walking your dogs there, keep them on their leads and don't let them eat anything off the ground. Luckily, their dog was ok, but it was a close call."
That post appeared to refer to this message: "Hey everyone! Last night Murray almost ate some poisoned sausage at the cemetery, which someone laid out to harm dogs (tramadol tablets pushed inside some sausage) near the Greenbank cemetery main gates.

"If you head that way please be careful and keep an eye out for dog bait. **** called the police last night and they’ve just come round to take the evidence and inspect the scene. If you do spot anything similar, you can report it using this incident number:AS-20240118-0852. Murray is ok (he hates tablets!) we were a bit shaken but all is well."
A message posted by the police's X account, read: "Please can all dog walkers be advised. We have had reports of food items being stuffed with pills and being left on the ground. The Fishponds Police Team ask that you keep an eye on what your dog is eating and only let them eat what YOU have given them. Please report any suspicious activity to 101, or via our online reporting system."
