The first rule of job interviews: don't snog anyone.

Whilst applying for a new position can be daunting, general etiquette tends to shun any kind of intimate gesture - especially if it's directed at the head of HR. A firm handshake and a smile go a long way and should suffice.

But, one woman has gone viral for breaking the rules in a hilarious interview blunder. She was applying for a new role at an online fashion retailer, which she says started off well. In fact, it wasn't until she was being guided back to the reception that things started to go terribly wrong...

The anonymous woman has written into LuAnna: The Podcast, a popular show hosted by Luisa Zissman & Anna Williamson, to share her awkward encounter. Here, she explained how she had a bag and a 'bulky winter coat' in her arm as the HR employee showed her the way out.

"She went to shake my hand and rather than a normal person and changing what I was holding in my hand, I decided to extend my empty hand and turn it upside down to shake hands in a rather uncomfortable handshake," the letter reads. However, her embarrassment only got worse when she noticed the staff member 'leant into her'.

"In my young mind, I think to myself, 'This is fashion, they must be really overfamiliar - she must want a kiss on the cheek'," the letter continued. "I thought I was going to kiss her on the cheek but her lips are coming straight for my lips... So I make the impulse decision to kiss her on the lips, and quite passionately if you consider the speed at which I came towards her."

The woman says she quickly realised her mistake and was "mortified". Despite quickly mumbling "thanks" and hurrying out of the office - she did get accepted into a second round of interviews. However, she didn't get the job (even though she didn't snog anyone the second time around).

Hundreds of amused viewers took to the comments section, with many drawing parallels to an episode of Friends where Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) makes a similar blunder. "I'd have to leave the country," one user commented.

Another wrote: "Such a great story." While a third added: I'm crying. I could not have gone back for the second interview." A fourth said if that had happened to her - she would 'never set foot' in the office again.
