Shannen Doherty says 'a lot of people' aren't invited to her funeral

Charmed and Beverly Hills 90210 star Shannen Doherty says there's a string of people she 'doesn't want' at her funeral, amid her cancer battle.

The 52-year-old actress initially announced she had breast cancer in 2015 and was later said to have gone into remission. It was then revealed that it had returned in 2019, with her said to have been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer.

Taking to her most recent episode of her Let's Be Clear podcast, Shannen admitted there was "a lot of people" she didn't want at her sendoff. "There’s a lot of people that I think would show up that I don’t want there," she told her guest Chris Cortazzo.

She added to Chris, her best friend and executor of her will, "I don’t want them there because their reasons for showing up aren't necessarily the best reasons. Like, they don't really like me — and they have their reasons, and good for them — but they don’t actually really like me enough to show up to my funeral."

Shannen didn't reveal exactly who she was talking about, but continued: "But they will... because it’s the politically correct thing to do, and they don’t want to look bad." She hoped her statement would "take the pressure" off people attending her funeral.

Detailing her end of life ceremony, Shannen explained: "I don't want people to be crying or people to privately be like, 'Thank God that bitch is dead now'." When her pal Chris asked if he'd get an invite, she quipped: "That's the shorter — that’s the better list.

"I can’t give you a list of who I don’t want because that’s way too long." Shannen went on to say she "abhor[s] fakeness" and "can’t stand" people who "pretend that they "found Jesus" and claim to be "so sorry" for "anything bad that they said about you".

"I’m like, ‘No, no, no. I know you’re still the exact same petty human being. Don’t. Just stay away from me. We’re good'," she continued. It comes after Shannen said she has a "fight for [her] life" after announcing that her cancer had spread in her body.

She announced in July last year that it had spread to her brain, sharing that she had her first round of radiation months earlier last January. Shannen also shared she had surgery "to remove [a tumour in her head] and also biopsy".
