A royal author has revealed that Prince William once used a secret alias - alongside his wife Kate - when sneaking off on a romantic getaway, to keep him safe and secluded from the glare of the public eye.
In most places, William is unlikely to go unnoticed even if he were using a secret name, but the author claimed that it allowed the couple some much-needed privacy during a period of their relationship when things had been a little bit rockier.
This space even helped them decide that at some point in the future, they were committed to the idea of getting married, another writer reported.
Author Andrew Morton made the claim in his 2011 book, William and Catherine, where he detailed that after the pair had taken a break in their relationship in 2007, they snuck away to the Seychelles for a romantic break and reconcilliation.
"Kate and William, under the assumed names of Martin and Rose Middleton, bid farewell to the paradise island of Desroches in the Outer Seychelles where they had spent a sublime week renewing their love affair," he wrote.
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourWhile they were using their aliases, another author claimed that they finally settled definitively on the fact that they were heading towards the altar, even if for the time being they would continue developing their own lives and careers.
"They stayed in the Desroches Island Resort, checking in under the names Martin and Rosemary Middleton, and went kayaking and snorkelling in the shallow coral reef," wrote Marcia Moody in her book 'Kate' which was released in 2013.
"It was during this break that they made an agreement with each other. For the next few years, they would work and enjoy their lives, knowing that at some point when the time was right, they would be husband and wife."
There is no doubt about the fact that Prince William is seriously famous, with he and his wife Kate ranking in the Top 30 of the most popular public figures worldwide - according to YouGov.
He may not be as globally recognisable as his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II - who comes in as the eighth most famous person of all time in YouGov polling, compared to William's ranking of 188.
