Kyle Walker has broken his silence and apologised to his wife following news of their split being made public.
The Manchester City player, 33, issued a statement on Friday after his estranged wife Annie Kilner announced that she was taking "some time away" from their marriage on Wednesday night.
The England ace apologised to his spouse for "all the upset" he has caused her and described his childhood sweetheart as "an amazing woman" in his grovelling statement.
Kyle's apology to the mother of three of his children comes amid reports Annie has reportedly sought advice from Coleen Rooney following the collapse of her marriage, with the WAG's friends and family hopeful she will make this split from Kyle permanent.
The mum-of-three is thought to have hired of the lawyer's involved in Coleen's successful Wagatha Christie court saga as she gears up to divorce Kyle after two years of marriage, with a battle over his £30million fortune looming should she go ahead with proceedings.
Pep Guardiola went back on his word after blocking last-ditch Barcelona transferKyle and Annie tied the knot in December 2021 and share three young children together, sons Riaan, Roman and Reign. Their relationship has been the subject of rumours and speculation over recent years, with Kyle being filmed allegedly flashed and kissing another woman last year.
The sports star, who met Annie as a teenager, has been accused of being unfaithful to his wife multiple times, with Instagram influencer Lauryn Goodman, 32, maintaining he is the father of her three-year-old son Kairo. Despite her husband being involved in multiple sex scandals, Annie has always seemingly stood by her man - until this week.
Announcing the end of her marriage on social media on Wednesday, the mum-of-three revealed Kyle was no longer living at the family's sprawling £2.5million property in Cheshire. It's believed Kyle has moved into a luxury apartment in Prestbury, Cheshire following the split.
In a statement shared to his Instagram page on Friday, Kyle broke his silence regarding the split and wrote: "Annie is an amazing woman and I can only apologise for the upset I've caused her. She's been part of my life for so long and that will never change for the sake of our children. I would ask for privacy for all of our family, and especially our young children, whilst we work through these difficult times."
Annie, 30, had previously forgiven Kyle and stood by him after Instagram influencer Lauryn Goodman, 32, gave birth to the footballer's son Kairo in April 2020. She labelled his betrayal as "obscene" at the time but was determined to keep their family together. However, Annie reportedly reached breaking point over the festive period regarding rumours Kyle has fathered a second child with Lauryn.
Model Lauryn welcomed her five-month-old daughter into the world in August but has not yet publicly disclosed the identity of the father or her second child's name, other than hinting her baby's initials are K.W. Annie reportedly confronted Kyle on Boxing Day regarding rumours he is the father.
Writing on Instagram earlier this week, Annie told her followers: "I am posting this in response to growing recent media enquiries about my marriage to Kyle and in an effort to protect my family against the intensity of the media spotlight. Sadly, after many years of marriage and three wonderful children together; I have decided to take some time away from Kyle.
Annie, who first met Kyle in their hometown of Sheffield when she was 15 and he 17, concluded her online statement with: "I do not wish to comment on the position any further. For now, I ask that the privacy of myself and our three young children is respected during this difficult time."
Just last month, Kyle denied he had split from Annie as reports suggested his legal battle with Lauryn, the mother of his three-year-old son, had put a strain on their marriage. Kyle and Lauryn conceived son Kario, three, during a period of time during which the footballer was on a break from his wife.
"We haven't split. I'm here at my family home, aren't I?" Kyle said outside his family's Cheshire mansion in December, after being quizzed by The Sun about reports he and Annie had called time on their romance and gone their separate ways amid his legal battle with Lauryn.
