It’s always fascinating to learn the secrets of other people’s professions, particularly if it means understanding what they might be gossiping about. One career path that seems to grab our attention more than any other is flight attendant, and getting the inside scoop on what they really think of passengers.

Now one air steward has revealed the code word they use to describe a difficult traveller, and if you do hear it being mentioned, get on your best behaviour or you could get bad service.

The cabin crew divulged: “If you're labeled a 'Philip' then you've done something wrong and should probably expect to get bad service for the rest of the flight.” But rather than Philip being a random name, like being a Karen, it’s a specific acronym to convey how they feel.

They added on The Sun : "That name originated from the term PILP - Passenger I'd Like to Punch - but has changed over time to become slightly more subtle.” According to the flight attendant, one of the easiest ways of annoying the staff is to press the button a lot.

Of course, it's okay to use the bell, but it should only be used urgently in emergencies. And the fashion for filming people while on airplanes is also a pet peeve, according to the insider, especially while they're working to keep everyone safe.

Many airlines, including United, American, Delta, and Southwest, have rules against taking photos or videos of their staff without permission. And while a crying baby doesn't usually bother them, a passenger complaining about the noise can be annoying.

So next time you’re on a plane and want to film something, moan about a child’s crying, or incessantly press the call button, just know that it is being noted and you will be labelled. Of course, if you don’t care then you really are a Philip and deserve everything you get.
