With the Australian Open set to get underway this weekend, adidas has launched their new Melbourne collection ahead of the players taking to the courts.
The draw has now been made ahead of the major tournament and it has thrown up some tasty looking match-ups and, to celebrate the first major of the year, adidas has launched their SS24 Melbourne collection. The pieces mark the start of the 2024 Grand Slam season and adidas says the new technology of which the collection is made is "a first" for the brand in tennis and it works in tandem with their 'HEAT.RDY' material technology which helps supports players on the court.
Adidas says that the 26-piece range for men and women also features "a tranquil colour palette and pattern scheme, specially crafted to help evoke a sense of calm." The collection pieces for women include the AIRCHILL Dress Pro, the AIRCHILL Match Tank Pro and the AERO.RDY Skirt Pro, while for men, pieces include the AIRCHILL FreeLift T-Shirt Pro, the Mesh Layering T-Shirt Pro and the Printed HEAT.RDY Ergo Short Pro 7 Inch.
Stefanos Tsitsipas, who will play in Melbourne, said: “One of the biggest factors in being a successful tennis player is staying composed and enjoying yourself. This is especially important at the first major tournament of the season – which sets the scene for the rest of the year.
"It’s crucial to remember the love of the game, that drew me to the sport in the first place. For me, staying calm and collected in the heat of the moment allows me to play the best I can.”
The collection will be worn by athletes including former champion Caroline Wozniacki, who is also coming out of retirement to play in Melbourne, Elina Svitolina, Xinyu Wang, Dana Mathewson, Jessica Pegula, Karolína Muchová, Maria Sakkari, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger Aliassime, Jason Wu and Martin de la Puente.
