Tyson Fury's ex-coach could train Anthony Joshua in British mega-fight

Tyson Fury 's former trainer Ben Davison hasn't ruled out the possibility of coaching Anthony Joshua for their potential mega-fight.

Davison coached heavyweight champion Fury when the Brit returned to the ring in 2018 after battling mental health issues. Fury won three fights under Davison and fought to a draw against Deontay Wilder, but the pair split for good before Fury's rematch against Wilder which he won by knockout.

Joshua has worked with several trainers in the past few years and recently linked up with Davison for his one-sided knockout win against Otto Wallin last month. Davison refused to give a straight answer when asked about the possibility of working with 'AJ' for a long-awaited domestic clash with Fury.

“It’s a hypothetical conversational isn’t it, because we’re a million miles away from that happening. At the minute it’s not even on the radar, it’s not even something to think about because it’s a million miles away. There’s two fights with Fury and [Oleksandr] Usyk and ‘AJ’ has other tasks ahead so that’s the focus at the minute," Davison told Boxing King Media.

Fury is currently preparing for his undisputed heavyweight title fight against Usyk on February 17 in Saudi Arabia. Joshua also fights in the Middle East just a few weeks later against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou and is expected to partner up with Davison again for the fight.

"He is one of, if not the, biggest star in the sport. People come to tune in to watch him perform the way that he does because it's excitement. It's not my job to plan his route and fights, all the rest of it," Davison said of Joshua's recent win. 'AJ' is still gunning for a fight against Fury, but the earliest the fight can take place is the end of this year because of Fury's two-fight deal with Usyk.

Fury flew out to Saudi Arabia on New Year's Eve to continue his training camp for the undisputed fight, but left fans confused after releasing a video that was seemingly filmed in England just days later. Usyk has remained quiet on social media in recent weeks as Fury continues to take jabs at his rival with taunting posts.
