Some LG TV users will soon be treated to blockbuster upgrades without needing to reach for their credit cards. The Korean technology giant has just confirmed that it will soon start rolling out big webOS software upgrades to older televisions which will bring new features to screens such as a more personalised experience and improved ways to customise the user interface. The changes, which will continue to arrive over the next 5 years, are aimed at making it easier for users to find and watch the content they like.
LG has gone as far as to say that its latest WebOS updates will make older tellies 'feel brand new' and that's not all as the the free software releases will also include important security optimisations which will keep things better protected.
So who is getting the free LG upgrades?
It's been confirmed that the new initiative - which is guaranteed for 5 years - will bring the latest webOS upgrade to every model in LG’s 2022 OLED TV lineup such as the LG OLED Flex, LG OLED Objet Collection Posé, as well as LG’s 2022 QNED Mini LED 8K (QNED99/95 series).
It's also been confirmed that the upgrades will be extended to more LG TVs worldwide in the future although there are no further details on which models will be included just yet.

“We strive to provide life-enriching experiences for our customers by delivering a wide range of content and services on our TVs.”
Expect plenty more TV news to be announced in the coming days as the CES technology show gets underway in Las Vegas.
This yearly event, which kicks off on January 9, is almost always used by the main manufacturers to show off their latest and greatest goggleboxes so expect to hear from the likes of Samsung, Panasonic and Hisense.
