Hugo Lloris will be one of Major League Soccer's (MLS) lowest earning goalkeepers after the French international's move to LAFC was announced on Saturday.
Lloris' move to the United States ends his 11-year stay with Tottenham Hotspur, where the 37-year-old made 477 appearances, the seventh most in club's history. The World Cup winner's new chapter will begin in the New Year when the MLS campaign gets underway in February.
Lloris' deal will see him play in Los Angeles until the end of the 2024 season, with an option to extend his stay in the States for a further two years.

The Frenchman has become the latest big name to make the MLS switch, following in the footsteps of the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez and Lorenzo Insigne. Despite his distinguished career though, Lloris is far from being one of the league's biggest earners.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Frenchman will earn £275,000 ($300k) during his year with LAFC, a number dwarfed by a number of his fellow goalkeepers, with 26 MLS shot-stoppers in total earning more during the 2023 campaign.

Welcoming Lloris, LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington said: "Hugo is arguably the most successful goalkeeper of his generation and a proven winner.
"We are incredibly excited that Hugo has chosen LAFC for the next phase of his illustrious career. He brings unprecedented leadership experience at the highest levels of football, which we know will greatly benefit our Club in our pursuit of more trophies.
"I would like to thank Tottenham for their collaboration, and I join all of Los Angeles in extending a warm welcome to Hugo, his wife Marine, and their three children to LAFC.” For Lloris it is no doubt a bittersweet moment, as he brings his stay in North London to an end.
Former Spurs keeper released an emotional statement to the club's supporters following his departure, commenting: "Spurs will always be a special place for me and all my family. It has been a great privilege to be one of yours and one of your captains for many years and it's the end of the chapter, but you will be always in my heart."
The 37-year-old will get the chance to say his goodbyes on Sunday, when Spurs host Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their final Premier League game of 2023. We shall come together to say thank you to Hugo in person during half-time at Sunday’s match against AFC Bournemouth at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium," the club revealed.
"If you’re attending the game, please remain in your seat at half-time as we celebrate the career of one of our modern-day greats."
