Deontay Wilder thinks his loss against Joseph Parker played a big part in Anthony Joshua's stellar performance against Otto Wallin.

Wilder and Joshua were on course to fight in March if they both won their fights in Saudi Arabia last weekend, but the fight is now seemingly off after Wilder suffered an upset defeat to Parker. The American landed less than 40 punches in the entire fight whilst Joshua turned back the clock with a flawless stoppage win against Wallin.

Joshua insisted that he wasn't watching Wilder's fight while warming up for his bout with Wallin and refused to criticise his rival after the loss. 'AJ' is now expected to fight Filip Hrgovic for a world title in his next fight and Wilder has doubled down on comments about the Brit never wanting to fight him in the first place.

“They really don’t want that fight. When I lost, did you see how happy he was coming out? I broke out laughing in the back, I said, ‘He's happy as f***.’ I made him be able to perform like that. He was like, ‘I ain’t gotta fight Wilder.’ The rumour was he was talking about retiring if I won. March 9th, the fight still can go on but this is a perfect way for them to get out," he told 78SportsTV.

"They didn't really have true intentions on fighting matter, my heart is shattered because I wanted to know what would have become of that. Although it's still on, they can escape now if they want to and it won't look like they have done anything wrong. He mentioned he wanted to count all the times people said his name, but he didn't get asked the same questions about him that I got asked about him.

"If nobody ever asked me about the question, which is my choice if I want to talk about him or not, then I'd never talk about the man. I don't have nothing to say about the man, I just know he doesn't want to fight the best of the best. That's not hating or disliking, he talks about me just as much as I talk about him."

Despite what Wilder said, Joshua insisted he would still be willing to fight him even after his loss to Parker. "Wilder just came up short but he will live to fight another day. Me and him can still get it on, we can still get it cracking. I believe I'm a massive threat and I still think Wilder is a threat, I think it still does amazing numbers if we get it on," the Brit said.
