Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua date becomes clear as rivals agree two-fight deals

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua won't take place for at least a year as the domestic rivals are both locked into two-fight deals.

'AJ' returns to action on Saturday night as he looks to set up a mega-fight against Deontay Wilder by beating Otto Wallin at the 'Day of Reckoning' event in Saudi Arabia. Wilder is fighting Joseph Parker on the card and if all goes to plan for him and Joshua, the pair are pencilled-in to fight on March 9.

Fury is currently preparing to fight bitter rival Oleksandr Usyk on February 17 for the undisputed heavyweight world titles following his controversial crossover bout against Francis Ngannou in October. The undisputed clash has a two-way rematch clause, as does Joshua vs Wilder, meaning both Brits will likely be tied up until the end of next year.

Wilder's promoter Shelly Finkel said a deal to fight Joshua is yet to be agreed on whilst the Brit's promoter Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports : "Things can move very quickly. To lock in a fighters' plans for 10 to 12 months is a really good position for him, especially if it comes with the lucrativeness of a Wilder fight in the Middle East.

"Two fights is definitely being discussed. March is probably the time we can strike for that mega-fight obviously for the financial rewards that you'd look for for a fight with that kind of risk and danger. "I think there's a lot of things that need to happen. Of course they both need to win.

"They both need to come out unscathed really. If there are any niggles or any injuries or any cuts, it's very difficult to go back into a March fight. It's going to be a very quick turnaround if we were to go on that date but of course if AJ doesn't win, if Wilder doesn't win, it's all irrelevant anyway."

Hearn said in an ideal world that Joshua would finally fight Fury if he gets past Wallin and Wilder, adding: "If he adds Wilder to the resume following Wallin, and maybe lends itself to a fight with Fury, you would say Joshua has boxed absolutely everyone of relevance in the heavyweight division during his career and that's a legacy you can never undo."
