Manchester City left-back Sergio Gomez is a loan target for Galatasaray.

The Turkish giants are keen to terminate the loan of former City full-back Angelino prematurely by sending him back to RB Leipzig next month. Galatasaray paid Leipzig a loan fee of around £1million and the transfer would automatically become permanent for £5m if Angelino makes 20 appearances in all competitions.

Incredibly, he has now been frozen out of the picture in Istanbul after reaching 19 appearances despite featuring in all six of Galatasaray's Champions League matches.

If Galatasaray are able to negotiate an agreement with the Bundesliga club - Angelino's compatriot Gomez is viewed as an adequate replacement, even though he is not the only target of interest.

Galatasaray are considering an initial 18-month loan proposal that would also include a permanent transfer option. Gomez has started just three matches for City in all competitions this season and has not featured in the Premier League since September.

He joined Pep Guardiola's treble-winners for £11million from Anderlecht in August 2022 but has struggled to force his way into City's starting XI. Guardiola has often utilised a back-three this season while Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake have also featured at left-back ahead of the 23-year-old Spaniard.

Meanwhile, City are set to rebuff any further loan approaches for Norwegian sensation Oscar Bobb this winter following his eye-catching breakthrough at the Etihad Stadium.

Lazio, Porto, Benfica and Ajax were all keen on signing the 20-year-old attacker on loan in the summer but the 20-year-old has quickly forced his way into the first-team picture at City.

One likely January exit is Kalvin Phillips, who has failed to win over Guardiola following his £42m transfer from Leeds in 2022. Juventus have made it known that they would like to sign the England international on loan with an option to buy.

However, City want to offload Phillips on a permanent deal so are insisting on an obligation to buy which Juventus are yet to commit to. Talks are continuing between the two clubs.

Newcastle are also being mooted as a potential destination for Phillips as he looks to pursue regular minutes ahead of next summer's European Championships.

Guardiola recently indicated that City could seek to replace Phillips in the market if Phillips does move onto pastures new, stating: “Kalvin is a player with us, I don’t want to anticipate absolutely anything. Everyone knows the situation he has. It depends if it happens. If it happens we talk. The market in January is not easy. We still have incredible things to play for and after we decide.”
