There's no better way to get that festive feeling than turning the radio up and listening to Christmas classics like I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday.

The 1973 Wizard classic has been re-released for 2023 and is being sung by a new generation of TikTokers who are taking on the likes of Sam Ryder and Mariah Carey to vie for the coveted number one spot in the UK singles chart. Sung by Creator Universe, the song has already landed at number one in the UK singles charts but who are the people behind it and what are their odds of having a Christmas number one?

Creator Universe is made up of some of the biggest TikTok stars such as nan and granddaughter, Jess and Norma, and 17-year-old singer Rosie McClelland. They've all come together to raise money for The Trussell Trust - a UK network of food banks supporting people in poverty at Christmas and all year round.

The vloggers' song was produced by Jamie Sellers - the brain behind Lad Baby's three Christmas number ones - Food Aid, Sausage Rolls for Everyone and Don't Stop Me Eatin'. It also features The Famileigh, who rose to fame sharing their heartwarming family exploits on social media. Then there's Peter Poppleton who has amassed 1.4million TikTok followers with his extreme food challenges.

While they are hoping to cling onto the number one spot for another week, William Hill believes it's Wham! who have the best chance of securing the top spot in the singles chart this Christmas. Last Christmas is now odds-on with the bookmaker at 4/7, while the Pogues have drifted to 2/1 and the Creator Universe looking like they will be coming in third with odds of 4/1.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: "Few would have imagined Wham! to be anywhere near the top of the UK Charts after the ongoing Whamageddon took the nation by storm, but with just one week until Christmas Day, George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley have made a late move."

Whamageddon is a game played during the 24 days before Christmas in which players try to go from December 1 to the end of Christmas Eve without hearing "Last Christmas" by Wham!. If the player hears the song at any point on those days, they are out of the game and have to post "#Whamageddon" on social media to show others they have lost.

The exceptions to this game are that the player can only listen to remixes and cover versions of the song. However, the trend doesn't seem to have done Wham!'s iconic Christmas tune any harm. “The duo are now the odds-on favourites with us at 4/7 to top the Singles Charts on 25th December, just three days after being an unlikely 6/1 shot," Lee added. "This spells bad news for The Pogues who now trade at 2/1, with the Creator Universe also drifting at 4/1.”

Other artists competing for the number one spot include Nala the Station Cat, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, and Mariah Carey. Creator Universe's song was produced by Jamie Sellers - the man behind the three most recent Christmas number one songs by LadBaby - Food Aid (2022), Sausage Rolls for Everyone (2021) and Don't Stop Me Eatin' (2020). Lee Chapman aka Peter Poppleton told the Wakefield Express he didn’t have to think twice about making a charity single.

"The idea of anyone going hungry this Christmas is an unbearable thought, but its unfortunately a reality for too many, especially this year due to the cost of living crisis,” he said. Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday was released in 1973, but narrowly missed out to Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody which debuted at number one 50 years ago this very week.

The 2023 Official Christmas No. 1 will be announced tomorrow (December 22, 2023). Meanwhile, The Creator Universe is made up of these TikTokers:
