While the adage says you should never give gifts to receive them, this most certainly wasn’t the case for one co-worker, who was left deeply disgruntled after his work Secret Santa left him stunned this season. After taking to TikTok to document his extreme disapproval, the man began by vowing never to take part in the gift-giving experience again: “I will not be participating in Secret Santa anymore, at any job, in any workplace, ever again.”

After showcasing a little blue box, he told viewers that he had gone ‘all out’ for his secretive Santa assignment, acknowledging that for some people, this may be the only gift they receive at Christmas. He said: “I went all out my way. I put Christmas lights on the bag. Santa paper. I had all kinds of stocking stuffers in the bag. I put bells in the gift bag. The lady that I got, I went over and beyond.”

“So the day comes and I’m excited. I did the work,” he says, before telling how after everyone was instructed to put their bags on the shelves prior to the gift giving, he was told that his Secret Santa hadn’t come into work that day and he would receive his gift another day.

After waiting patiently to see what gift he had received, he said: “I get to work today, I get my gift y’all, she hands me my gift, I open it up and this is what I have,” he says, before opening the small blue box to reveal a seasonal selection of mini Reese’s, Hershey’s and Mr.Goodbar’s chocolates. “Now mind you, the limit was £20 ($25),” he continued, noticeably underwhelmed. “Well maybe, she spent a little bit of money on the bow and the box, because the box is kind of fancy.”

His video prompted his more than 72k comments from followers keen to head online to tell their tales of Secret Santa woe, with one saying: “Yeah, my Secret Santa didn't get me anything. I was the only one who didn't get a gift.” Another said: “Did you check under the candy because what?” while one acknowledged he would have made someone’s day with his kindness: “And that's what makes you a blessing.”

Another office worked said: “Someone in our office got a 10 pound bag of rice from their Secret Santa,” while another told how last year one of their coworkers got their boss for Secret Santa: “She gifted her a box of peanuts and everyone knew our boss was allergic to them.”
