Where to buy Samsung's cheap A50s phone if you're on a strict budget

Want the speeds and look of a Samsung phone but don't have £800 or more to drop on its newest S23 or Z Flip5? Then its budget Galaxy A05s handset may be the handset for you as Vodafone's Christmas deal beats rival retailers.

Whether you're on the lookout for your next mobile upgrade, a last-minute or belated Christmas present, or a New Year treat, you'll be no stranger to the rising prices of phones. This is why Samsung's latest A range, known for being its most affordable set of mobiles, is an option to look at, but it's not the easiest phone to get your hands on in the UK.

Since it's only been shy of two months since the budget phone was released, and its cheaper qualities are beaten by the likes of the S23, Z Flip5 and the M Series it can be tricky to find retailers stocking the device.

When shopping for the device it doesn't take long to see that retailers including Currys, John Lewis, and Amazon don't even stock it, while Samsung has limited options on international stores. At time of writing Very is the only retailer we've found offering the A05s for an outright price.

Until now, as comparison site Mobiles.co.uk has done some digging on Vodafone's latest monthly offers as it beats rival retailer's to offer the low priced A series phone in three different storage sizes; 100GB, 52GB and a 28GB option.

To help you save even more money we've broken down the perks of each different contract option, and whether going for the one with a cheaper monthly rate but upfront cost isn't always the best option. Starting with its cheapest £13 a month 28GB plan, where you'll get the handset and 13GB of Vodafone data a month, that's if you pay £9.99 upfront first.

Even so, this works out £321.99 across the full 24month plan and comes with unlimited calls and texts, this may be the cheapest option but we wouldn't recommend it purely for the monthly amount of data, as you could spend just £2 more a month with no upfront cost for the bigger 52GB amount - that's Vodafone's £15 a month plan totalling to £360 across the full contract.

And lastly Mobiles.co.uk has highlighted Vodafone's 100GB handset and data contract on the Galaxy A05s, which would cost a total of £408 across the full two year plan. Again like the 52GB option this has no upfront cost.

Features of the budget Galaxy A05s

It's no secret that the price of mobile phones are rising dramatically but many tech shoppers on a budget are often stuck between forking out the extra money for quality features or going with the cheapest price and scrimping on a devices capability. Not to mention that lifespan is another costly feature for shoppers to think about, as the majority of Android and iOS sets only have a few years of guaranteed software updates.

The A05s is Samsung's newest phone in the A series and one which is focused on giving users a decent, but basic, quality smartphone that will last longer with a strong battery life and security updates at the centre. The A05s has a long-lasting battering with 25W Super-Fast charging features and two years of guranteed OS upgrades.

There's a large 6.7-inch screen display with a display resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a reactive refresh rate of 90Hz, which considering the cheaper phone price is pretty impressive. Both the Galaxy A05 and A05s have decent camera two with an upgrades 50MP high resolution camera and the front facing selfie camera has also been upgraded to 13MP. You won't get the array of back cameras and lensesseen on the likes of the recent S23 or iPhone 15 but it'll do a good job of capturing your day to day.

Samsung's A Series isn't the only budget range offered by the brand either, as its middle of the line M Series makes another popular choice for money conscious shoppers.
