Hertfordshire Police have confirmed they are searching for Billericay Town's ex-millionaire owner Glenn Tamplin.

Tamplin, 57, failed to comply with a community order between October 19 and November 4 last year, before failing to appear when summoned to St Albans Magistrates Court earlier this year. He then had a second arrest warrant issued in October for being in possession of cocaine in May 2023.

A police statement read: "A warrant was issued by St Albans Magistrates’ Court on 12 July 2023 for failing to comply with the requirements of a community order between 19 October, 2022, and 4 November, 2022. A warrant was also issued by St Albans Magistrates’ Court on 3 October 2023 for possession of a controlled Class A drug on 9 May. 2023."

Tamplin famously took over as Billericay owner in December 2016, and proceeded to spend lavishly at the non-league club. He signed former Premier League stars like Paul Konchesky, Jamie O'Hara and Jermaine Pennant in a bid to elevate the club.

During his tenure, Tamplin twice appointed himself as manager. However, he stood down as owner and director in September 2019, having put the club up for sale.

Just two months later he took over the reigns at another non-league club, Romford. In a dramatic 16 months, he purchased a host of players and again made himself manager, but quit in March 2021, citing the Covid-19 pandemic.

During his playing career, Tamplin also had youth stints at both West Ham and Leyton Orient. But he was released on both occasions and went on to play semi-professionally for Barkingside and Barking.

He then reportedly enjoyed huge success in the steel industry, and was able to turn a £50,000 loan into a £40million fortune. In 2017, he was named as the second most powerful person on the Essex Power 100 list.
