A mother has shared the outrageous claim she paid a whopping $70 (£56) for her daughter to have a bowl of cereal at Disney World Florida.

Kaitlin LeBeouf’s 4-year-old daughter fancied a bowl of frosted flakes to give her the energy levels required for an exhausting day meeting her favourite movie characters. But the travel agent could never have guessed the alleged extortionate price she was forced to pay for her small daughter’s breakfast.

As the mother and daughter dined at the Cinderella’s Royal Table restaurant in the Disney resort, a friend behind the camera asked the mother on TikTok : “Tell me what your kid for for $70?”. LeBeouf responds wide-eyed with a sarcastic look when she confesses what she has paid the colossal price for: “frosted flakes!”.

The mother tries to take the bowl of cereal from her young daughter to show it off to the viewers - but her daughter says “No” while pulling an upset face. Eventually we see what LeBeouf has apparently paid $70 for - and it really is just a tiny bowl of cereal. But the four-year-old looks very pleased with the purchase, showing it off proudly to the camera as she wears a sweet Minnie Mouse headband.

Lebeouf clarified to confused viewers when she explained that, of course, “it tastes better in Disney”. She describes the extortionate but small bowl of frosted flakes as “Cinderella cereal”.

Viewers of the TikTok were shocked by what they saw - despite the cereal not being the first example of unbelievable prices at the global attraction. “This is why I’m nervous to take my kids to Disney, my son would eat one chicken nugget and call it a day,” one mother said with laughing emojis. “Nope. We’ve got cereal at home,” another user joked. One class clown added: “Might as well just pay for Cinderella to come to your house lol probably cheaper.”

But others criticised the mother for exaggerating the truth, going as far as to describe it a “giant lie”. Cinderella’s Royal Table charges $69 per adult and $42 per child and has a large variety of options on the menu. These range from Traditional Brekfast to a Mickey-shaped waffle.

But LeBeouf’s daughter only wanted a bowl of cereal - which despite it’s size, doesn’t make the visit to the Royal Table any cheaper. Some commenters felt LeBeouf was fabricating the story to take advantage of the ongoing criticism of Disney World’s prices.

“So you just made a video that’s a giant lie? What a clout chaser. Maybe make a factual video next time not scolding Disney?” said one replier who appeared to take the video particularly personally. “The whole breakfast is $69.99 and $42.00 for kids. Still expensive but [it’s] not $70 for just the cereal,” said another.

LeBeouf made a response video after the comments, stating she was “well aware of the prices” and stating the video was posted only as a joke. “I’m a travel agent, well aware of the prices my friend was well aware of the prices. The entire thing was posted as a complete joke and an exaggeration.” The Mirror has contacted Disney World Florida for comment.
