A famous cat who became a public hit after frequenting at a busy UK train station and even featured in two bestselling books has sadly passed away.

Famous Huddersfield train station cat Felix has sadly crossed the Rainbow Bridge, Yorkshire Live reports, with a spokesperson saying she died peacefully on Sunday after an illness. Since 2011, felines Felix and Bolt - who had been included in the Sunday times Bestsellers list - had been Huddersfield Station's senior pest controllers, but today it has been revealed that Felix sadly died on Sunday evening.

On Facebook, a tribute was posted by station manager Angie Hunte, which stated: "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Felix. On Sunday evening, she peacefully went to sleep, in the loving comfort of Angie Hunte (Station Manager) and Jacqui Cox (Station Team Leader).

"Felix joined TPE in 2011 and since then has left paw prints across the hearts of people from all over the world. We will miss her dearly. We please ask that if people would like to leave their words of sympathy they comment on this page and refrain from visiting the station.

"A fitting tribute and memorial for Felix will be organised in due course and the station team need time to process and grieve this deep loss. There is NO official fundraiser for Felix, we instead ask that you consider purchasing the 2024 Felix and Bolt calendar (LINK) or donating to an animal charity directly in her name.
