Linda Nolan fears this could be her last Christmas in heartbreaking update

Linda Nolan has issued a heartbreaking update on her health amid her ongoing cancer fight where she shared her fears that this Christmas could be her last.

The 64-year-old former singer was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in her hip in 2017 and has been keeping fans updated on her health fight in the years since. In March this year, she revealed that the disease had spread to her brain and has previously explained that the cancer cannot be cured.

Linda has been bravely battling the disease since her first diagnosis in 2005 and has admitted that there are days when her fight becomes overwhelming and she is reduced to tears. But she has added she is adamant not to let the disease win and get her down in the long run.

The star is being pragmatic, however, and has heartbreakingly accepted that this Christmas could be her last. Opening up to Woman magazine, Linda said: "When I wake up, I try to think it's another day to enjoy, not it's another day closer. Sometimes it's hard, but I never want cancer to win. Sometimes I slide down the wall and cry my eyes out because I'm having a bad day, but 99.9 per cent of the time I'm OK."

She continued: "[Christmas will be] extra special because I don't know if I'll see it next year. So definitely everything is more poignant. [My Christmas wish] is to be here. It's important now for me to make memories and to enjoy the time I've got left."

During her cancer battle, Linda has shared her experience and hopes with the Mirror with a searingly candid column. The star has explained that the cancer has impacted various aspects of her health - including damaging her memory.

She previously wrote: "I had to turn to Coleen's son Jake's girlfriend and ask her what my niece, Coleen's daughter, is called. My memory has been lapsing for a while, but that moment was as bad as it has got.”

She has also shared her defiance, and explained that she is not willing to allow the disease to control her life. She wrote: “I’m not going to panic because, if I panic, cancer wins. I’m not going to live in fear because it'll take over, and I have to concentrate on making the most of now.”

The Nolan family has cruelly been ravaged by cancer in the past - with Linda’s younger sister Bernie passing away in 2013 aged 52. Her death was particularly tragic as just a year before her passing she had been told she had defeated the disease. But several months later doctors discovered the cancer had returned and had spread to her lungs, liver, brain and bones.

She passed away in her sleep with a statement released by the family at the time saying: "Bernie passed away peacefully this morning with all of her family around her. The entire family are devastated to have lost beloved Bernie, a wonderful wife, adoring mother and loving sister, she is irreplaceable. They kindly ask people to respect their privacy at this difficult time."
