Armed police rushed to a town in Cornwall, sealing off an area around flats and near a train station, following an incident this afternoon.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the scene at Basset Road at around 1.35pm following reports of a man believed to be in possession of a handgun. Reports also claimed the man had been making threats in the street.

Local officers, along with firearm specialists, found that the suspect had left the scene. However, following a search of the area a handgun matching the description was located near Camborne Railway Station.
