Strictly Come Dancing pro Katya Jones says she and celebrity partner Nigel Harman “aren’t trying to avoid it” as she spilled on their sexiest dance yet.
The pair, who have been fan favourites to win from the beginning, were snapped in a steamy clinch as they rehearsed for this week’s Rumba, which is known as the Dance of Love. Former EastEnders actor Nigel was pictured planting a kiss on his professional dance partner's cheek earlier this week.
Nigel, 50, who is best known for playing Dennis Rickman on the BBC soap, and 34-year-old Katya were also seen with their arms tightly wrapped around each other as they shared a series of embraces. Shrugging off any suggestion the ‘Strictly curse’ is about to strike again, Katya took to Instagram in a candid Q&A with fans.
Asked how she felt about her and Nigel dancing the Rumba to the Celine Dion hit It’s All Coming Back To Me Now this week, she revealed they didn’t pick it themselves. Katya explained: “It’s a big team decision. There has to be a variety of dances on the show. Each couple has to cover Ballroom, Latin and speciality in a fair order. And multiple other reasons. It was time for us to do a Latin dance. And I’m so glad we get to do the Rumba!”
She went on: “Yes it is challenging, and no one can possibly perfect it in 4 days! But we are not trying to avoid it. Isn’t this what the show is about, exploring the joy of dancing. Nigel really likes the feel of Rumba and he’s getting glimpses of why we – Pros – love it so much.“ The professional dancer ended the Instagram post with: “And it’s beautiful to see. So that’s all we can do. Try our best and share it with you! And if it happens to be enough to stay, that’s a bonus!”
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourKatya and Nigel impressed viewers once again last weekend with another great performance, but some mistakes in the routine led to some lower scores for the pair, and critique from the judges. Although Nigel received a 31, he seemed disappointed as the judges pointed out a few flaws with quickstep to It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing by Duke Ellington.
Chatting on It Takes Two afterwards, Nigel insisted he did have a good time during the Blackpool special, despite fans believing he was upset. He said: "It is so brilliant the Blackpool floor, it's such a gift. It's so big and bouncy and the crowd were so present and with you. I loved every second of it. I actually think it was the best I've danced on the show, and then I made some mistakes, but putting that aside it was the most I have enjoyed it. I had such a good time which is why when I made the mistake, afterwards it was so disappointing because you have done all that work and it was so good."
