The Belleek whisky set

It is very likely that the whisky lover in your life is ecstatic to receive a bottle for Christmas, birthdays and other special occasions. Luckily there are plenty of bottles to choose from including our Mirror Choice best whisky of 2023, the wonderfully fruity Cotswold Single Malt Whisky.

If you feel like you have exhausted the number of times you have gifted the standard bottle of whisky to your loved one it could be time to get creative. As a whisky drinker I have received a number of whisky-themed gifts over the years and I have picked out my favourites that are on sale in 2023

All of the items in the list are things I have owned for several months and have been thoroughly tested out and reviewed by myself. It's a tough job but somebody has to do it.

Whisky set with stones

There are hundreds of thousands of whisky sets all offering a combination of glasses, whisky stones and other whisky paraphernalia. With an almost endless list of choices it can be difficult to find the right one.

The best whisky sets have two things; excellent presentation and high quality items. My go-to whisky set is from Belleek. The set comes with Galway Crystal whisky glasses that feel satisfyingly heavy in your hand. It also comes with whisky stones - ideal for cooling whisky without needing to water it down - and a pair of tongs. What really elevates the set above others is the quality wooden presentation box. Too many whisky sets use cheap cardboard but the quality and workmanship make this one of the best choices on the market.

The Belleek whisky set is currently reduced from £99.95 to just £49.95 for Black Friday, but shoppers can get it for an even more bargain price as using the code BLACK30 will take it down to £34.95 during the annual shopping event, 65% off the usual RRP.

Whisky Quaich

What do you get the whisky lover who has everything? The beauty of whisky is that it not only tastes great but it looks fantastic in a display. I like to display my favourite bottles, miniatures and decanter and it usually ends up as a topic of discussion with house guests.

If you have a whisky fan in your life that has the gift set, the bottles of whisky and even a decanter, you could choose to get them a stunning quaich to add to their display. Originating from Scotland, a Quaich is a traditional 'Cup of Welcome' used to share a drink and toast the arrival or safe departure of guests.

I have the beautiful pewter quaich from John Lewis for £51. It's a stunning little item that elevates any whisky display to the next level.

Whisky trolley

Drinks trolleys are enjoying something of a renaissance in the last few years. I display all of my whisky on a trolley bought from The Range last year for £50. The trolley is no longer available to buy unfortunately but Dunelm has a similar version for as little as £34.50 in its Black Friday sale.

Perfect for displaying whisky bottles, gift sets and decanters, a drinks trolley is a fantastic option for those with limited space but still want their whisky on display. You can also get a nice wood effect trolley for less than £50 from Amazon in the Black Friday sale here.

Whisky tasting set

Bottles of whisky are not cheap and you have to be sure your whisky-loving family member of friend actually likes the bottle you are going to buy them. Or you can hedge your bets and get them a whisky tasting set. There are quite a few benefits to this but the main one is the ability to try a wide selection of whisky without shelling out for full size bottles.

I particularly like the Master of Malt tasting sets. For £49.95, you get 12 3cl wax-sealed bottles, neatly presented in a smart card box with perforated windows giving access to each - just like an advent calendar.

Sample boxes like this from Master of Malt are definitely worth considering for a gift, and you don’t even need to spend as much as £49.95 to get a decent collection. You can even customise your own selection on their website.
