Health app founder dies from brain tumour after husband's tragic cancer death

A NHS-approved health app founder who lost her husband to abdominal cancer has died from a rain tumour after being diagnosed 10 month's after his death.

Freyja Hanstein, from Cornwall, was diagnosed with cancer after her husband died in 2014. Two years after she entered remission, she wrote and designed Wholesome World, a health and wellness app aimed at everyone but particularly those going through cancer treatment.

In a sad post released on Sunday her loved ones announced she had passed as a result of complications from her cancer returning.

A statement posted to the Wholesome World Instagram page reads: "It is with the most profound sense of loss that we share the sad news that Freyja Hanstein, Wholesome World's creator, has passed away. She died peacefully in her sleep in the morning of the 16th November of as a result of complications from a recurrence of her cancer.

It added: "That you are reading this is testament to Freyja's immense strength, positivity and perseverance. She created Wholesome World after losing her husband Lars to cancer, while in remission after her own first fight with a brain tumour.

"This project has been Freyja's way of transforming those dark experiences into something positive and nourishing. Her love and creativity built Wholesome World, and we are immeasurably proud to have been here to support her, and to carry on what she started.

"Here online, and in her book, Freyja wanted to share the things that sustained her - a love of the natural world, the ocean, travel and culture. She poured those things and her own energy into this project, and every success, every new supporter or follower encouraged her, and made her feel like she was giving something to other people who were struggling. Thank you all for your wonderful energy and for making her work mean something "

The post was met with a huge outpouring of love as dozens shared their memories and fondness of Freyja, a woman well-known for her positive outlook on life and her contagious laughter and personality.

Lettice Rowbotham called Freyja her "most sparkliest of friends," and said: "It is everything about Freyja that was so beautiful. Her joy was so contagious, her bright bubbling fun clever interesting talented passionate funny self so delectably deliciously fabulous.

She added: "Freyja's humour, her inspirationally wild and free spirit, her sense of adventure, her loyalty and kindness to her friends. So lovable, so consistently wonderfully magical. I miss and love you so much and always will forever and ever Freffela Freffels."

According to friend, Fran Warde, "Freyja was the most beautiful human and it is our great loss that she has flown this world." She said: "We all miss you Freyja. That bright smile, beautiful aura and kindness scattered on all you met."
