Haaland sounds ominous warning to Man City's rivals as title race hots up

Erling Haaland has warned Manchester City are in even better shape than last year.

City won a historic Treble last season and Haaland believes they are firmly on course for another remarkable haul of trophies. Pep Guardiola ’s men are top of the Premier League despite losing two games this season and being pegged back in an eight goal thriller at Chelsea.

But Haaland said: “We’ve been doing really good. We’re top of the league and already through in the Champions League. It’s been a really good couple of months - better than last season to be honest. It’s been a good start.”

That is a warning to send shockwaves through the rest of the Premier League as City were unstoppable last year and are clearly in the mood to repeat last year’s success.

Haaland admitted they are not used to scoring four and not winning - but warned next time they will just have to score even more goals.

“It was a tough game, I enjoyed it. Normally when you score four goals you might win but we didn’t - that’s how it is,” said Haaland. “We had the chance to seal the win a couple of times, but we didn’t. It’s something we’ve got to work on. Next time we’ll have to score five. I feel good to score but a bit disappointed to not win. One point is better than zero.

“But it’s not easy to come to Chelsea. We know Chelsea are a good team, so we prepared to play them, and we did our best. We didn’t play bad, we made mistakes but that’s football.”

Haaland is also on course to beat Andy Cole’s record of the being the quickest to pass the 50 goal landmark. The City striker has 49 goals in 47 Premier League games while it took Cole 65 games to set the current record.

Haaland added: “I don’t care too much about it. I care about performing and developing. I’m still 23-years-old. Records come - that’s a good thing but in the end, I don’t think of it.”
