Corrie's Sam Aston announces gender of baby as wife shares third pregnancy

Coronation Street's Sam Aston and his wife Briony have shared the exciting news that they're expecting another child, a sibling for their two kids Sonny, three, and 18-month-old Daisy.

"It's a girl!" Sam revealed, explaining that they found out through a blood test because they were too impatient to wait.

The couple also bravely shared that they were initially expecting twins but sadly lost one of the babies due to 'Vanishing Twin Syndrome'. "It was very bittersweet that's exactly how I'd word it," said Briony, who had previously opened up about experiencing two miscarriages after Daisy's birth.

"We were excited and thankful because we always wanted a baby that was healthy." But they also found themselves questioning what could have been while feeling grateful for what they've got. Chesney Brown actor Sam, 30, admitted he was "shocked" to learn that they'd been expecting twins.

"At first, you're thinking, 'What would it have been like to have twins? Would we have had one of each, a boy and a girl?' Like Briony says, it's definitely bittersweet, but we just feel very grateful that the other baby is absolutely fine," he told OK! Magazine.

Briony was surprised to find out they were expecting a girl. "I had a strong feeling that it was a boy, right from the very beginning I was so convinced," she confessed.

"We even had a boy's name already. So to then find out that it's a girl, it makes me feel that maybe the twin we lost was a boy."

Looking forward to their baby girl's arrival in Spring, Briony is planning another home birth. "There's nowhere else I'd rather be," she admitted. "That's exactly what I plan to do. We'll see how it goes."

"With Daisy, it was very straightforward and lovely, just experiencing the birth like that," Sam added. "It felt really calm, being at home. Afterwards, we had some toast and a cup of tea and then we were back in our own bed. It was very euphoric. So, it would be nice to do that again. It was lovely seeing how happy it made Briony too."
