Former Premier League star Jonjo Shelvey took a leaf out of Harry Kane's book with an incredible goal from his own half for Turkish team Rizespor.
The 31-year-old, formerly of Liverpool and Newcastle, sent a perfect shot from the centre circle over goalkeeper David Jensen, putting his team 1-0 up against Istanbulspor in just the fifth minute. Fellow Englishman Kane scored a similar goal just weeks ago for Bayern Munich as the former Tottenham striker lobbed Darmstadt goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen on his way to netting a superb hat-trick.
Shelvey has not been in quite as impressive goalscoring form as Kane - his audacious effort was his first goal for the Super Lig club since his move from Nottingham Forest in September. Shelvey was only at the City Ground for eight months after joining from Newcastle last January, but fell out of favour after throwing a tantrum when he was left out of Forest's trip to Liverpool in April.
Rizespor are currently midtable in the Super Lig after an inconsistent start to the season, though Shelvey's goal earned them a valuable three points as it proved to be the winner.
Shelvey has been no strange to attempting to score from his own half. One of his midfield predecessors at Liverpool, Xabi Alonso, achieved the feat twice during his spell at Anfield - once against Luton and again against Newcastle.

David Beckham was the first to score from inside his own half with his famous strike against Wimbledon for Manchester United in the 1996/97 season. Kane then produced a brilliant effort of his own just last month and said afterwards: "I just saw the keeper out the corner of my eye in a strange position.
"We were 4 or 5-0 up at the time so I thought why not have a shot and as it was in the air, I was just praying for it to dip below the bar and thankfully it did.”
